According to the human rights organization, "The deadly combination of hunger and disease is not an unfortunate consequence of Israeli military operations" in Gaza.
Israel is waging a "deliberate campaign of starvation" in Gaza, Amnesty International said in a statement released Monday, as the UN and numerous NGOs continue to warn of imminent famine in the war-torn Palestinian territory.
"The deadly combination of hunger and disease is not an unfortunate consequence of Israeli military operations" in Gaza, "it is the intentional result of plans and policies that Israel has designed and implemented, over the past 22 months, to deliberately inflict on Palestinians in Gaza living conditions calculated to bring about their physical destruction," the human rights organization wrote.
Asked by AFP for a reaction, the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Israeli army did not immediately respond.
